Structural Equation Modeling of the Role of Mosques in the Social Sustainability of Islamic Cities (Case Study: Arak City)

Abstract

Introduction: In the neighborhoods of Islamic cities, mosques are a suitable place for the emergence of trust and confidence, participation and social solidarity in community issues, which are intergenerational spaces that must be safe, usable and attractive for all people of different generations, and therefore they have a special place in the research and development of the title of Islamic cities and can play a very important role in the social sustainability of cities as an intergenerational public space. The main objective of the present study is to evaluate the role of intergenerational communication in the social sustainability of the city of Arak.
Data and Method: This research is theoretical-applied in terms of research type and is based on the descriptive-analytical nature and method. It has investigated the effect of intergenerational communication on the social stability of Arak city using structural equation modeling using a researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical population of the research is the population of Arak city, which according to the 2016 census had a population of 520,944 people. The sample size was calculated based on the Cochran formula as 384 people from all generations of the population of Arak city.
Results: Analysis of the findings indicates that among the factors affecting the effects of intergenerational communication on social sustainability, social cohesion with the highest factor load is the most influential factor in intergenerational communication, followed by attitude change, social interaction, social welfare, and finally windfall.
