Abstract

Introduction: the present study was conducted with the aim of sociologically examining the relationship between the sense of social security and delinquency among adolescents in Qazvin.
Data and Method: The research method used in this study was a survey and its statistical population consisted of 24,318 adolescents aged 15-19 in Qazvin city, and 380 of them were selected as the statistical sample of the research through the Cochran formula. The sampling method was a random stratified type proportional to the volume. The collection tool was a questionnaire and all research information was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS software.
Results: The results of the correlation test showed that the linear relationship between the construct of feeling of social security and all its components, including life security, financial security, job security, judicial security, and psychological security, with the crime variable was significant with a confidence level of 99% and at a significance level of less than 0.01. The results of the multivariate regression analysis also showed that the independent variables present in the regression model were able to explain 44.2% of the changes in the dependent variable of delinquency.
Conclusion: A sense of social security plays a vital role as one of the effective factors in preventing juvenile delinquency. When adolescents feel that they live in a safe and supportive environment, the likelihood of deviant behavior and delinquency decreases. On the other hand, in societies where feelings of insecurity and helplessness prevail, adolescents are more at risk of delinquency.
