Spatial Analysis of Citizens' Perception of Smart Tourism Development Case Study: Citizens of Ahvaz City

Abstract

Introduction: The level of awareness and perception of citizens in different parts of Ahvaz city of the concept and components of smart tourism is one of the prerequisites for realizing this type of tourism.
Data and Method: This study is "descriptive-analytical". The statistical population includes citizens of Ahvaz city aged 15 years and above (887,280 people). The sample size was 400 and distributed in twelve selected neighborhoods. SPSS, GIS and Cocoso software were used to analyze the data.
Results: there is heterogeneity in the level of citizens' awareness and perception of the concept of smart tourism in different neighborhoods of Ahvaz city, so that in neighborhoods with a higher quality of life, citizens have higher information, awareness, and perception of the benefits and applications of smart tourism, and in neighborhoods with a lower quality of life, including run-down and marginalized neighborhoods, lower awareness and perception are observed. the level of citizens' perception and awareness of smart tourism components in different neighborhoods of Ahvaz city has significant differences. In fact, the ranking of the studied neighborhoods is based on spatial levels from rich to poor.
Conclusion: the level of citizens' perception of smart tourism changes from places and neighborhoods with higher levels to places and neighborhoods with lower levels. Therefore, the development of smart tourism in the city of Ahvaz requires paying attention to these differences and implementing programs to reduce the digital divide and increase awareness and acceptance of smart tourism technologies in all neighborhoods of this city.
