Abstract

As half of the users of urban spaces, women have the right to use urban spaces like men. But since the type of needs, the way of perceiving the environment and as a result the behavior patterns of men and women in urban spaces have significant differences, therefore, ignoring the differences can limit the presence of women in public spaces. The purpose of this article is to explain the framework of designing women-friendly urban spaces with an emphasis on urban streets in Kerman city. For this purpose, the subject has been studied with the descriptive-analytical method and with the field interview and the questionnaire tool in the Delphi method. The statistical population of the research is 16 university professors, planners and municipal managers, who were selected using a targeted and snowball method. The results of the research showed that the consequences of designing a women-friendly street based on causal and interactive conditions as well as intervening and contextual developments will increase the presence of women in the street and their greater interaction in a social context with other citizens. These interactions lead to women's sense of peace and satisfaction. Accordingly, in urban design, security and safety and the elimination of defenseless and dilapidated urban spaces are among the main requirements for designing a women-friendly street, which is placed in the first priority of the urban design framework. And they are categorized according to functionalism.
