Abstract
Introduction: The concept of livable cities is one of the main concerns of policymakers, planners, and urban managers, and the goal of all urban planning is to transform the urban space into a livable environment with the capability of life for citizens. In this regard, this research aims to measure the level of livability in the urban areas of Khorramabad, accountability, consensus building, efficiency and effectiveness, transparency and justice.
Data and Method: The research method in this study is analytical-descriptive in nature and applied in purpose. Data and information have been collected through two methods: documentary (library studies) and field (questionnaire). For the analysis of the collected data, the one-sample T-test has been used in the SPSS software, and for the ranking of areas, the VIKOR multi-criteria decision-making method has been employed.
Results: The research results showed that among the nine indices, Khorramabad city only had a relatively acceptable status in three indices: public education, health, and place attachment, but in other indices, according to the citizens of Khorramabad's urban areas, the situation was unsatisfactory. Also, the leveling of urban areas based on the total indices showed that only one area (Area 6) out of a total of 24 urban areas enjoyed a desirable livability status, and the rest of the areas ranged from tolerable to unsatisfactory.
Conclusion: Overall, it can be stated that the urban management process in Khorramabad city has not been able to achieve desirable results in terms of enhancing urban livability indices.
