Examining the Relationship between Generation Gap and the Occurrence of Risky Behaviors (Case study: Suburban Areas of Qazvin)

Abstract

Today, one the issues that affect the health of the family and, to a large extent, the health of society and has destructive and irreparable consequences is the prevalence of high-risk behaviors among different groups, especially among young people. In recent years, due to rapid social change, the occurrence of these behaviors as one of the most important problems in society has been considered by health organizations, law enforcement and social policy makers. In this regard, the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between generation gap and the occurrence of high-risk behaviors among marginalized youth in Qazvin.
Data and Method: The research method used in the present study is survey. The statistical population includes all young people aged 15-29 in Qazvin who live in marginalized areas. The sample size is estimated through Cochran's statistical formula and 380 people by purposeful sampling method to collect the necessary selection information. The software used for data analysis is SPSS.
Results: The results showed that the correlation between the generation gap variable and all components of high-risk behaviors is statistically confirmed, the type of relationship was also positive and direct. Also, the variables in the regression model were able to explain 43/2% of the changes in the dependent variable.
Conclusion: According to the results, the interaction between the two generations of youth and parents and the negotiation of disputed values based on logical models and giving importance to the expectations and values of the youth by the adult generation are more necessary.
