Investigating the effect of social and economic resilience on mental health in the Corona period (Case: Urmia City)

Abstract

Introduction: The spread of the Corona virus, which has caused many deaths in human settlements, has also endangered the public health of the people. As a result, it has drawn the attention of urban planners and policymakers to the necessity of improving resilience against future epidemics. The purpose of this study is to measure multi-dimensional socio-economic resilience in Urmia City and its impact on the mental health of citizens.
Data and Method: The research method was descriptive-analytical, and the data collection tool was in the form of a questionnaire, which was collected in the number of 384 questionnaires from 5 regions of Urmia City.
Results: The results show that the level of social and economic resilience in Urmia city was lower than the average level, and its level was different among the regions of Urmia city, and region 1 having the most resilience and region 5 having the least resilience. The results of mental health in Urmia city also show that its level in the fifth wave corona (delta corona) was higher than the cut-off point of public health with a value of 26.8, and the citizens suffered from public health in a mild way.
Conclusion: The correlation test between socio-economic resilience and mental health shows that there is no significant relationship between social resilience and mental health; on the contrary, there is a significant relationship between economic resilience and mental health, and with an increase in economic resilience, mental health also increases.
