Comparative Analysis of Factors Influencing Women's Satisfaction with Women-Only Parks and Public (Mixed) Parks in Mashhad and Sabzevar Cities

Abstract

Introduction: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the functions that urban parks can improve the quality of life of women and besides it, recognize the users ' satisfaction with these spaces compared to public parks will be studied.
Data and Method: This research is a case study, and cross-sectional that is performed by descriptive-analytical method. regarding the novelty of the study and the lack of a standard questionnaire, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. The statistical population includes all women aged 15 and over present in public Mellat Park and Hijab only-woman Park in Mashhad and Laleh Public Park and only-woman Park in Sabzevar. The sample size is equal to 320 in Mashhad and 200 in Sabzevar.
Results: The results show that in both public and only-woman parks of Sabzevar, sport, and recreation is the main motivation for the presence of users in the park. Based on the findings, in general, women in Sabzevar have more satisfaction in either Public or only-woman parks than in Mashhad. Anova test indicates that there is a significant difference between the satisfaction scores of users of urban parks in Sabzevar and Mashhad, and Also,
Conclusion: it seems that with attention to the existing conditions and limitations of common, normative and religious, and even legal restrictions of women in public spaces, the establishment of only-women parks can be a policy for promoting gender justice in the cities of Islamic countries such as Iran
