Abstract

In recent years, besides having many positive effects, tourism has also had negative effects. These negative effects can be seen in all sub-sectors of tourism, especially in urban tourism due to its very high growth. Considering the importance of reducing negative effects and increasing positive effects, it is necessary to have an ecotourism approach. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to apply the ecotourism approach in urban tourism. The research method is qualitative and based on the seven-step Meta-Synthesis of Sandelowski, Barroso and Willis, which was carried out using Maxqda software. The findings of this research show that despite the fact that the term urban ecotourism creates a conflicting concept, it should be taken into consideration because of its many and excellent benefits that can be a way to achieve the goal of sustainable development. The research results indicate that having an ecotourism approach in urban tourism in physical, managerial, cultural, social, economic and environmental categories helps the sustainability of cities.
